Dr. Francisco Perlas Dumanig is an Assistant Professor at the English Department, University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hilo, Hawaii, USA. He used to be an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya, Buraimi University College, UCSI University, Inti International University, Far Eastern University, University of the East, Mapua Institute of Technology and Technological Institute of the Philippines.  His wide experience in teaching from various countries in Asia has led him to publish and present a number of research studies in the Philippines, U.S.A, UK, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Oman and Thailand. He published in high ranked journals like Cambridge Language Teaching Journal, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, Multilingua, Language Policy and International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, just to name a few.  Apart from his publications, he was also invited as keynote speaker and plenary speaker in some international conferences in the field of Languages, Linguistics and Education. He also conducted a number of research workshops in Southeast Asia particularly in Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. His research interests are in Language Teaching (Teaching English as a Second Language - TESL and Teaching Filipino as a Foreign Language - TFFL), Cross-Cultural Communication, World Englishes (Southeast Asian Englishes) and Discourse Analysis (Language, Migration and Identity).
